Jason Moyer

Dialogue Moderator

Professor Moyer writes and teaches about religious language in presidential rhetoric. He serves his denomination, Mennonite Church USA, and preaches at his local congregation. Recently, he published the essay "Turning the Prophetic into Civil Religion: Barack Obama's March 4, 2007 Sermon in Selma, Alabama." He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of lowa. He received the top dissertation of the year award from the Religious Communication Association for his thesis, "Not Just Civil Religion: Theology in the Cases of Woodrow Wilson, John Kennedy, and Barack Obama."
